WIMBLEDON, England (AP) — American John Isner advanced Wednesday to a quarterfinal match against Roger Federer at the Olympics.
Isner, seeded No. 10, hit 22 aces and beat No. 7 Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia 7-5, 7-6 (14). Isner needed six match points to close out the victory, which came when Tipsarevic double-faulted.
Isner, playing in his first Olympics, will face the top-seeded Federer on Thursday.
